Still Smiling on Day 3!
Children's Miracle Network mission is to generate funds and awareness programs to benefit children and 160 associated hospitals/foundations for children in the United States, Canada and Mexico. Children's Miracle Network's hallmark is that 100 percent of locally-generated donations stay in the community in which they were made to benefit participating hospitals. The hospitals/foundations associated with Children's Miracle Network treat children with all types of afflictions.
In Canada, Children's Miracle Network generates funds and awareness programs for the benefit of children. Children's Miracle Network specializes in miracles, - seeing a child survive major surgery, overcome traumatic experiences or accidents, beat a deadly illness, and live a better life.
When RE/MAX became the official real estate sponsor (read our Children's Miracle Network Mission Statement) for Children's Miracle Network in January 1992, we had two objectives.
|
|
The first was to affiliate ourselves with a national charity distinguished for improving health care for children. The second was to make the world a better place for the people we serve. The health of business is a reflection of the health of our society. We are committed to contributing to the health of today's child.
As a corporate sponsor of Children's Miracle Network, we enhance our role as local community citizens and as members of the global community. In September of 1999 myself and eight other realtors went on a 3 day bicycle ride from Chilliwack to Kelowna and raised $12,000 for Children's Miracle Network. Great fun for a great cause! If interested, ask me how you can get involved. View the newspaper article.

A Children's Miracle Network "Warm Fuzzy"
Near the end of 1998, Michael Grigat of Winnipeg, Manitoba began to change from a happy, energetic 6-year-old into a quiet, subdued child who fell asleep in class, had no appetite, and was prone to tears. Diagnosed soon after with end-stage renal disease of unknown origin, Michael began the agonizing wait for a donor kidney to save his life.
While he waited, Michael was put on numerous medications and underwent daily peritoneal dialysis, a difficult 10-hour treatment that took over for his failing kidneys. A year passed as Michael's condition slowly worsened. But the long-awaited call finally came.
Michael received a kidney transplant in August 2000 and has been steadily improving ever since. Full of energy once again, he is back in school and having fun with his video games, his roller blades, and his friends.
